Cultural history 

The objective of this specialisation is to prepare specialists who will be equipped with the basic knowledge of modern historical research and vital knowledge of European national and regional history with regard to the world history context. Graduates will have gained communicative competence in at least two world languages as well as IT skills; necessary knowledge of the historical disciplines and specialised knowledge and essential skills of museology and basics of the archival system. Graduates will be able to satisfy current social demand for specialists who are able to provide qualified consultation and research service in museums, galleries and other cultural organisations, in administration (department of culture and historical monuments' preservation).

 

Documental and Archival services


The objective of this specialisation is to educate and train specialists who will understand and will be familiar with the ways of documental service in current office systems. Graduates will have acquired the basic principles of archival service, the care of archival documents and their processing as well as presentation; they will be aware of the relationship between documental and archival service; and they will be able to produce a specialised text of a required form and topic. Graduates are trained for work in the documental service in public as well as private sphere and for work in the archival service in state archives and in newly-founded private archives.

 

History – Slavonic studies of European Union


The specialization of Slavonic Studies of the European Union is offered in combination with the specialization of History. The objective of this specialisation is to provide cultural, historical and linguistic study within this bachelor programme. Due to the current language structure of the European Union, this field of study is composed of three fields: Polish, Slovene and Bulgarian. Graduates will have acquired knowledge of cultural history and current aspects of life and institutions of the particular countries. Graduates of the bachelor programme will be trained mainly for practical work in tourism and in junior management in companies doing business in the particular language area, they may find work either in the above mentioned local businesses or in the EU institutions. Graduated of this bachelor study programme will be able to continue in master study programmes of Polish, Slovene or Bulgarian language or in related disciplines.

 


History - Protection of Historical Heritage and Archaeology


The specialization of Protection of Historical Heritage and Archaeology is offered in combination with the specialization of History. The objective of this specialisation is to educate and train specialists with the bachelor qualification who will have mastered the basics of specialised work; they will have gained practical skills in archaeology and museology; and they will have acquired knowledge of practical application of these skills in historical research and museum work. The study is based on close cooperation with museums and archaeological institutions. Graduates will be trained mainly for positions requiring practical skills, not for historical research. Graduates will be prepared for work of a more qualified specialist in historically oriented institutions (museums, public associations, institutions dealing with protection of monuments, etc.). They will be able to manage and monitor activities of specialised departments or to individually perform specialised activities (e.g. organise fieldwork, document fieldwork by means of photography and catalogue collected material, etc.). Graduates will be equipped with knowledge applicable in further study of master programmes of Historical Sciences or related disciplines.

 

Historical and Literary studies


The objective of this specialisation is to prepare specialists who will be equipped with theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills from the disciplines such as history of culture, literary science, sociology of culture; and who will be able to understand individual patterns of variable symbolic thinking and to influence the current cultural life in the most creative way. Graduates will be able to provide basic educational and counselling service within critical and historically rooted work with written and electronic media, to fulfil requirements connected with functions in public relations of administrative and cultural institutions. They will also be able to work in non-profit organisations and public or private foundations of different kind. Graduates will be equipped with knowledge applicable in further study of master programmes of Historical Sciences or related disciplines.

 

Humanities


The objective of this specialisation is to provide the education and training of qualified specialists for a wide and versatile range of functions in the area of humanities and social disciplines in state administration. They will be able to propose, realise, develop and apply the up-to-date methods and forms of work with corporations as well as individuals on the basis of direct or indirect communication. Graduates will have acquired theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills from the area of the humanities with regard to pedagogy, psychology, sociology, anthropology, historical sciences and philosophy. Graduates will be able to perform analytical, informative, counselling and managerial functions in the sphere of public administration, science and research.
